A family of four pays for a 12-day Sapa and Central Vietnam tour as one bill, and the tier decides most of it. At four full seats the total is $11,840 on Full, $7,840 on Light and $16,040 on VIP, before international flights. All prices were checked on 29 September 2026.

I have run tours in Vietnam from Da Nang since 2023. Families usually ask for one total instead of a per-person rate, so I add it up for four travelers and show what sits inside it.

What Is Included in the Price per Person?

The 12-day route covers six cities: Hanoi, Ha Long Bay, Ninh Binh, Sapa with the Fansipan cable car, Da Nang with Ba Na Hills, and Hoi An. On the Full tier the price includes the guide, every entrance ticket, the Ha Long cruise, both cable cars, transfers between cities, the Hanoi to Da Nang flight, 3-star-plus hotels and two free beach days in Da Nang.

The trip runs 1,900+ km through 25+ locations, and groups stay small, up to 10 travelers. The days go like this:

  • Days 1 and 2: Hanoi
  • Day 3: Ha Long Bay
  • Day 4: Ninh Binh
  • Days 5 and 6: Sapa and the Fansipan cable car
  • Days 7 to 9: Da Nang and Ba Na Hills
  • Day 10: Hoi An
  • Days 11 and 12: beach time and departure

What Does the Bill Look Like for Two Adults and Two Kids?

Full costs $2,960 per person for groups of two or more, so four seats add up to $11,840. Light costs $1,960 per person and VIP $4,010, and the same multiplication applies. Children count as full seats in this calculation until their ages are known.

For the Full tier that is about $987 per day for the whole family over 12 days.

What Sits Outside the Tour Price?

International flights for four people are not included in any tier, and the arrival and departure city is agreed when you book. Meals outside the program are paid separately on every tier, and Full covers breakfasts only, so lunches and dinners come out of the family’s own pocket.

Travel insurance and pocket money are also yours to arrange. I do not quote a flight price for four here, because it depends on your departure city and month, and an airline search for your dates gives the real number in a minute.

What Happens to the Price When the Kids Are Young?

The tour page publishes no child rate. Every tier is listed per person for groups of two or more, and no discount for a child is named anywhere, so the four-seat totals above are a budget estimate, not a final invoice.

This is where families get stuck: without a stated child price, the exact total for your kids’ ages cannot be built from the website. You can estimate the order of magnitude yourself by multiplying the tier by four and adding a margin. For the exact figure, send me the kids’ ages and your travel dates and I will give you the total for your family. My general take on traveling with children is in Vietnam with Kids: What Works, What to Skip .

How Much Does Upgrading a Tier Cost a Family?

Moving from Light to Full adds $1,000 per person, or $4,000 for a family of four, and brings in hotels, transfers between cities and the Hanoi to Da Nang flight. Moving from Full to VIP adds $1,050 per person, or $4,200 for four, and swaps the hotels for 4 and 5-star ones, adds a private car on short transfers and one dinner in every city.

Excursions, tickets, the Ha Long cruise, both cable cars and Ba Na Hills are identical on all three tiers. The VIP vs Full breakdown goes through each difference. The day-by-day plan for all three tiers sits on the 12-day Sapa and Central Vietnam route page , which is written in Russian, and the home page of our tours lists the other routes.

Which Tier Should a Family of Four Choose?

Pick Full if you want to pay once and skip a dozen separate bookings. Light saves $4,000, but you then book hotels, city-to-city transfers and the domestic flight yourself. VIP pays off when a first-line hotel in Da Nang and a car that does not wait for the group matter to you. Until the kids’ ages are settled, plan the budget on four full seats.

You can assemble this trip yourself: hotels, domestic flights and park tickets are all bookable online, and a translator app covers the rest. But if you would rather not juggle connections across six cities and the schedule of four people, message me on Telegram with your dates and family size, and I will tell you what fits.

Methodology: Where These Numbers Come From

Per-person prices come from the tour page for this route, price edition of 13 September 2026, checked on 29 September 2026. No outside source exists for them: this is the price list of the tour I run. Family totals multiply the tier price by four seats, and the daily figure divides that total by 12 days. No child rate is published, so every seat counts as full.

Frequently asked questions

Which month works best for this route with kids?March and April are the safest window: the north is already dry and Da Nang is not yet hot. October and November are good too, though the center can get rain. Sapa's golden terraces peak from late September through October.
Is the Fansipan day hard for children? The route is active without any mountaineering. Trekking through Sapa's terraces is easy, and a cable car lifts you to Fansipan (3,143 m) and up Ba Na Hills. With very young children, discuss the daily transfers in advance.
Is a shorter trip cheaper for four? The 7-day North Vietnam tour costs $2,140 per person on Full, so $8,560 for four. It covers the north without Da Nang and Hoi An, which makes it a different route rather than a shortened version of the 12-day one.
Will we be traveling with other families?Groups run from two to ten travelers, and dates are agreed individually with you. Ask before booking which departure already has other guests, so you know whether you share the days.
