A one-hour massage in Nha Trang costs $4 to $15 (100,000 to 400,000 VND) in an ordinary salon and from $17 in a hotel spa. A tip of about $2 goes straight to the therapist. Skip any place that does not show a price list at the door, however friendly the person on the pavement is.

I have run tours across Vietnam since 2023, and the checks below work for any salon in the city, not only the ones I name.

How much does a massage in Nha Trang cost in 2026?

A Vietnamese full-body massage for 60 minutes costs $4 to $10, Thai massage $6 to $12, aromatic oil $8 to $13 and hot stones around $8 to $15. Foot massage starts at $4 and runs 30 to 60 minutes. These are hourly prices from July and August 2026 listings. A 90-minute session costs roughly 1.5 times the hourly rate.

Street salons also sell a two-hour package with scrub and bath for $15 to $31. Hotel spas run two to three times higher, so the same hour that costs $8 in town is $19 or more at a resort. Card payment often adds 1% to 3%, and most small salons prefer cash. A package of 5 to 10 sessions sometimes gets 10% to 20% off, which helps if you stay in town for a while.

Which salons have posted prices and plenty of reviews?

Salons with a fixed price list and many reviews are the safe bet. Su Spa in the center starts at $14 an hour and works in English. Manu Spa on Tran Phu street, near the seafront, starts at $6 and has Russian-speaking staff. Orchid Spa on Hoang Hoa Tham keeps local prices: $9 for Vietnamese, $10 for Thai and $11 for aromatherapy, and it is worth booking a day ahead.

Sen Spa on Ngo Den street is picked for its atmosphere and two-hour packages from about $19 (roughly 500,000 VND). One-hour prices differ between sources, so confirm the price at the desk. Pure Vietnam on Ngo Quyen charges $10 for a 30-minute foot massage and $15 for an hour, and offers Lomilomi, a Hawaiian oil massage where the therapist works with long strokes of the forearms. King Blind Massage at 91A Nguyen Thien Thuat employs blind therapists: oil foot massage $10, hot stones $12, and English is limited, so point to where it hurts. The sign “Massage người mù” (blind massage) also hangs on fakes with sighted staff, so do not trust the sign alone and check the reviews. Check opening hours and addresses on Google Maps before you go.

How do you tell a salon that sells extras from a real one?

Extras mean paid sexual services, and they are illegal in Vietnam. In January 2026 police in Da Nang, as Tuoi Tre reported , raided such “massage” rooms on the upper floors of two hotels, where packages cost $69 to $185 and a single “contact” about $38.

An evening street in central Nha Trang: check the salon from the pavement first.

Nha Trang has seen the same pattern. In 2019 a salon manager was arrested after staff offered tourists “services” for about $40 and stole money from clients (Asia Times, citing VnExpress ). Run this check from the pavement:

  1. A price list hangs on the sign or the desk. No price list, walk on.
  2. Google Maps shows a rating above 4.0 and reviews from the last few weeks. Three reviews from a year ago are a reason to look elsewhere.
  3. The therapist asks about pressure and sore spots, and the salon has several branches.
  4. You walked in on your own. Street touts earn a commission per tourist, and a Hanoi tout was fined in January 2026 .
  5. Nobody invites you to an upper hotel floor or a VIP room for a package whose price was not named at the door.

This is where guests get stuck most often: the sign is only in Vietnamese, there is no price list and the receptionist speaks no English. Finding a salon is easy with Google Maps and a translation app. Fitting a free evening in when Nha Trang sits between two long transfers is harder. I put together ready-made Vietnam routes with free evenings. Message me your travel dates on Telegram and I will tell you what fits.

What does a hotel spa add for two or three times the price?

A hotel spa is worth it if you want silence and a private room. Listings from July 2026 put an hour at $17 and up at Galina, $19 and up at Diamond Bay and $27 and up at Amiana Resort, the one with mud baths. You pay for the setting, private rooms and mud baths, while the hands-on part can match a good city salon.

Akoya Spa sits on Hon Tre island at Vinpearl, with lakeside bungalows, jacuzzi and steam rooms, and you need a cable car or a transfer to get there. Six Senses Ninh Van Bay is 20 minutes by speedboat from the city and suits a stay of several nights. Its prices are quoted at booking.

Who gets the tip, and what do you say to refuse an extra?

Tip about 50,000 VND, which is $2, and up to $4 is normal. For a 90-minute session up to $6 is fine. Hand the money to the therapist, not to the front desk, so it reaches the person who did the work. The same price-first habit helps at dinner too, see how to avoid overpaying for seafood in Nha Trang .

Three Vietnamese phrases cover most situations: “nhẹ hơn” means lighter, “mạnh hơn” means stronger and “đau quá” means that hurts. To decline an extra, say “không, cảm ơn” (no, thank you) and repeat it with a smile. If they keep pushing, get up and leave after paying only for what was done, at the listed price.

What should you book: a quick guide by situation

For a first time on a budget, book a 60-minute Vietnamese massage in a salon with a posted price list, which is also the cheapest option. After a long walking day, choose a foot massage from $4. For a quiet private room, take a hotel spa from $17. Run any choice through the five checks above.

OptionPrice for 60 minutesBest for
Vietnamese massage$4–10 (100,000–250,000 VND)a first visit, medium pressure
Thai massage$6–12 (150,000–300,000 VND)people who like stretching
Aromatic oil$8–13 (200,000–350,000 VND)an evening after the beach
Foot massage$4–8 (100,000–200,000 VND)tired legs after sightseeing
Hot stonesaround $8–15 (200,000–400,000 VND)a stiff back
Hotel spafrom $17 (from 450,000 VND)silence and a private room

A massage takes one evening, but the rest of Nha Trang and the road to the next city take far more effort: bus and train connections, a transfer from Cam Ranh airport and a language gap at the front desk. You can book the tickets and the hotel yourself if you have time to compare options. If you would like the whole trip handled, describe your trip to me on Telegram and I will reply with a plan for your dates.

Frequently asked questions

Is it safe to get a massage on the beach?

Beach therapists and room visits from random people are a sign of an unprofessional operator: there is no price list and no reviews, so quality cannot be checked. A salon rated above 4.0 is the safer pick.

Do I need to book ahead?

In high season and on weekends popular salons fill up, and Orchid Spa with its local prices is best booked in advance. Call a day or two before and confirm the time.

Is it safe to go to a massage alone in the evening?

Pick a salon with a street-level entrance, a posted price list and reviews from the last few weeks, and read them before you leave the hotel. Skip anything that needs a lift to an upper floor or a private room you did not choose.

What if the final bill is higher than the price list?

Ask the total before the session starts and photograph the price list at the door. If the bill is higher, point to the list, pay the listed price for what was done and leave. Do not hand over a card or passport as a deposit.

Can I get a massage with a child or during pregnancy?

Ask the salon before booking and tell the therapist at the start. For pregnancy, check with your doctor first and book a place that says in writing which treatments they offer.
