Vietnam has no single kids’ rate: planes, trains and the Hue Imperial City price a child by age, the big theme parks price by height, and every hotel sets its own limit. A child under 2 pays 10% of the adult fare on Vietnam Airlines, rides the train free until 6 and walks into Ba Na Hills free below 1 meter. The full adult price starts at age 12 on Vietnam Airlines and Bamboo Airways, at age 2 on Vietjet Air and at 1.4 meters in the parks. Add the numbers child by child before booking and the trip total stops being a guess.
I have run tours in Vietnam from Da Nang since 2023, and parents ask me the same question before they book: at what age does the full price begin? The thresholds below are current as of 30 September 2026 and come from the carriers, the parks and hotel booking pages.
What Does a Child Under 2 Pay?
A child under 2 pays 10% of the adult fare on Vietnam Airlines domestic flights and travels without a seat of their own (Vietnam Airlines rules for children ). Bamboo Airways charges 100,000 VND per segment for a lap infant, and Vietjet Air charges about the same. Bamboo and Vietjet allow one infant per adult.

On Vietnam Railways a child under 6 rides free, and Ba Na Hills and VinWonders let children under 100 cm in at no charge. Hotels are the exception, because a free stay depends on the brand. Hilton Da Nang lists a free baby crib on its booking page.
What Changes Between Ages 2 and 6?
From age 2 the child needs a seat of their own: 90% of the adult fare on Vietnam Airlines, 75% on Bamboo Airways and the full fare on Vietjet Air. The train stays free until age 6, but only for one child per adult ticket, and a second child under 6 buys a children’s ticket (Vietnam Railways rules ).
Height now decides the park price. A four-year-old taller than 100 cm needs the children’s ticket at Ba Na Hills, which costs 800,000 VND for visitors who do not live in Da Nang. The Hue Imperial City stays free until age 7, while the Vinpearl resort in Nha Trang ends its free stay for one child at age 4.
Which Prices Change Between Ages 6 and 12?
The train gives a 25% discount from age 6 up to 10. The Hue Imperial City charges 40,000 VND for a child from 7 to 12, and Ha Long Bay gives a 20% discount to children taller than 1.2 meters up to age 16. Those Ha Long figures come from cruise operators, because the bay’s management page did not publish them.

Hotels shift here too. Hilton Da Nang houses one child under 11 free on existing beds but charges for breakfast from age 6 (283,500 VND). An extra bed costs 950,000 VND a night at Hilton and 1,580,000 VND at Vinpearl, so the family size on the booking form changes the bill more than any ticket does.
When Does a Child Pay the Adult Price?
The adult fare starts at age 12 on Vietnam Airlines and Bamboo Airways, at 10 on Vietnam Railways and at 12 at the Hue Imperial City, where entry costs 200,000 VND. Vietjet Air charges the full fare from age 2. In Ba Na Hills (1,000,000 VND for an adult) and VinWonders the line is 140 cm, whatever the age.

A nine-year-old who stands 142 cm tall shows how the systems collide: 90% on a Vietnam Airlines seat, 25% off the train and the full price at the Ba Na gate. Sun World publishes the height limit, so measure your child at home before the trip and plan the tickets by that number.
How Do These Rules Add Up on a Guided Tour?
This is where families stall: the plane counts age, the park counts height, the hotel counts its own limit, and no line shows the final sum, so the booking waits another month. You can build the sheet yourself, since flights, hotels and park tickets are all bookable online and the thresholds in this article fit on one page.

My tour pages do not publish a child price, so a quote treats every seat as full until I know each child’s age. My other programs are collected on the homepage . To get a total for your family, send me each child’s age and height and your dates, and I will split the sum line by line. What Should You Check Before Booking?
Write down each child’s age and height on the travel dates, compare them with the table and enter the ages on the hotel booking form. The adult price starts at 12 on Vietnam Airlines, Bamboo Airways and at Hue, at 10 on the train and at 140 cm in the parks.
You can copy this table into your own spreadsheet in an evening. If you would rather not track five counting systems and a height limit at every gate, message me on Telegram with your dates and the kids’ ages, and I will tell you what fits.
